Strange Cities: Athens

Diplareios School, Onassis Cultural Centre, Athens, Greece
April 20–June 28, 2015

An exhibition of international artists invited to create an artwork inspired by Athens.

Athena (Triglyph), 2015, rulers on wood panel, 37 × 16.25 × 2.5 inches.

My work was inspired by Classical Greek architecture, particularly its iconic temple in Athens, the Parthenon. Using the same ideals of order and balanced proportion exemplified in these structures, I constructed the work out of the very same tool of standard measurement used to determine its form, rulers. The dimensions of the work are in the same 4:9 - width:length ratio as the footprint of the Parthenon.
